Health & Safety


To address health and safety, Sierra Theaters has, in alliance with movie theaters across the country, signed on to CinemaSafe, a program promoting protocols and guidelines developed and supported by leading epidemiologists to support a safe return to movie theaters.

This program, commissioned by the National Association of Theatre Owners, puts the health and safety of guests and employees at the center of movie theater operations.

Reserved seating, mandatory masks, social distancing, staggered showtimes, enhanced employee training, and rigorous cleaning protocols are some of the steps being taken ensure a safe and healthy return to movie-going.

Masks Required
All employees must wear a face covering or mask. Patrons must wear a face covering at all times except while consuming food and beverages in the auditorium.  Those who are unwilling to wear a face covering will be denied entry.

Social Distancing
Appropriate physical distancing must be maintained at all times between patrons, except members of the same household or those that attend together.

Reduced Capacity
Auditorium capacity will be limited to 50%. Reserved seating system will ensure appropriate physical distance is maintained between groups of patrons in the auditorium.

Air Filtration
HVAC systems are in working order, ensuring high-volume air flow.

Frequent Hand-washing

Employees are trained on hand-hygiene practices, and are required to wash hands frequently at easily accessible hand-washing facilities.

Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol will be liberally placed in easily accessible public areas and patrons will be encouraged by staff and appropriately placed signage to practice hand hygiene.

Enhanced Cleaning

Auditoriums will be carefully disinfected between movie screenings. High-touch surfaces will be wiped down frequently with EPA-registered disinfectant.

Employee Health Training

All employees are trained on the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 as well as theatre policies and procedures.

Modified Concessions

Credit Card transactions or contactless payments are encouraged, limiting cash handling.  Communal food and condiments that require shared serving utensils or equipment will be eliminated.
